Liga MB Round 19 (Regular Season): Cojute loses to Metapan in the game between Top 4 teams

The Regular Season in Liga MB just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Cojutepeque. 4th placed host Cojute (9-7) was smashed by first ranked Metapan (14-1) 84-58. It was a great evening for American guard Noah Harris (185-2002, college: SNHU) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 5 assists. Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) helped adding 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Venezuelan guard Maximillion Bell (198-1999, college: Lane) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Metapan have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record. Cojute at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost.
Bottom-ranked Brujos (0-15) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 15th consecutive match to fourth ranked Cojute (9-7) 82-65. It was an exceptional evening for Venezuelan guard Maximillion Bell (198-1999, college: Lane) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. Juan Flores accounted for 11 points and 8 assists. American guard Noah Harris (185-2002, college: SNHU) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds for Brujos in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cojute maintains fourth place with 9-7 record. Brujos at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost.
The game in Santa Tecla was also quite interesting. Second ranked San Salvador (13-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Santa Tecla (6-9). San Salvador defeated Santa Tecla 98-84 on Saturday. Yoel Cubillas fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Nick Moore produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. San Salvador have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-2 record behind leader Metapan. Loser Santa Tecla keeps the eighth position with nine games lost.

In the last two games of round 19 Santiagueno was destroyed by Santa Ana on the opponent's court 125-72. Independiente managed to outperform Ahuachapan in a home game 101-92.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 34 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds by Kordell Brown of Ahuachapan.



Santa Tecla - San Salvador 84-98

The game in Santa Tecla was also quite interesting. Second ranked San Salvador (13-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Santa Tecla (6-9). San Salvador defeated Santa Tecla 98-84 on Saturday. San Salvador shot 60.3 percent from the field. They also forced 22 Santa Tecla turnovers. fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. chipped in 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds and Gerardo Rivas added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Five San Salvador and four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Santa Ana - Santiagueno 125-72

Very expected game when 10th ranked Santiagueno (2-13) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Santa Ana (8-8) 125-72 on Saturday. Santa Ana shot the lights out from three sinking 26 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Santiagueno's players. fired 51 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Puerto Rican forward Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) chipped in a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 19 rebounds and 12 assists. Five Santa Ana players scored in double figures. Santa Ana's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players saving starting five for next games. Colombian center John Hernandez (207-1984) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 19 rebounds and Colombian forward Leyder Moreno (195-2000) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Santa Ana maintains sixth place with 8-8 record. Santiagueno lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost.

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Independiente (8-7) defeated at home 9th ranked Ahuachapan (5-10) 101-92 on Sunday. American guard Darnell Johnson (201, college: CSUSB, agency: Gulf Coast Hoops) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import forward Noryen Lasley (201, college: Ave Maria) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Kordell Brown (203, college: Columbus St.) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds and Puerto Rican forward Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) added 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Independiente moved-up to fifth place. Loser Ahuachapan keeps the ninth position with ten games lost.
